It is recommended that every printer should be cleaned every 1000 cards. If your printer does not print to that capacity then it should be cleaned every 3-4 months.
It is also important to keep the printhead clean (this can be done with a cleaning swab/pen which usually comes in the cleaning kit).
This can be caused for a number of reasons:
  • Possibly the power supply not being correct
  • The firmware may be out of date
  • The driver may be out of date
Yes. Cleaning kits are essential for many reasons:
  • Keeping your warranty valid - if you do not carry out regular cleaning, your warranty is likely to be voided by the manufacturer.
  • Misprints are more common as a result of dirtier cards and dust collected.
  • If cleaning kits are used as recommended by manufacturers, the ID printer will have a longer lifespan.
For taping up the ribbon take both ends of the snapped ribbon, simply tape them back together with a bit of Sellotape.
